NASA's Deep Space Optical Communication (DSOC) successfully receives first laser message.
This First laser beamed message came from 16 miilions km beyond the Moon.
The message is in near infrared laser with encoded test data.
This message is send by Psyche mission spacecraft (DSOC) and received by Hale telescope at Caltech’s Palomar Observatory in California.
This is the farthest ever demonstration of laser communication in space.
Distance is more than the 40 times farther than the Moon.
Psyche 16 mission aims to explore the origin of planetary cores by studying the full metallic asteroid.
This Psyche 16 asteroid is thought to be made up of precious metals whose value is $10 quintillion.
This spacecraft will orbit the asteroid and will start studing in 2028.
